Hi,

We want to drive to Orlando FL from Houston TX during Christmas, are there any attractions in between so we can spend one or two nights at?

Thanks.

New Orleans and the Emerald Coast (aka- Redneck Riviera) located between Pensacola, FL and Panama City, FL.

Driving up I-75, just after exiting Floridas Turnpike, is Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum at Exit 341. North to Ocala is Silver Springs, East of I-75 on Florida Highway 40. After you pass the town of Micanopy, you’ll cross a grassland simular to the Everglades, called Paines Prairie. Up the hill will be the University of Florida and their wonderful museum, watch the signs.

When you get to I-10, head West to Tallahassee and Florida State University. Veiw Doak Campbell Stadium from a distance in awe. It’s an amasing sight.

When you reach Pensacola, don’t miss the Museum of Naval Aviation at the Pensacola Naval Airstation, it’s one of the best there is.

Entering Mobile, Alabama you’ll see the battleship U.S.S. Alabama. Well worth the stop. At Mile 2 rest stop in Mississippi, pull in, board a bus to the John C. Stennis Space Center, it’s free. This is a hidden attraction, all rockets going into space are tested here. When the Saturn V Moon Rockets engines were tested, instruments in the area registered an earthquake in the 5.5 range.

Soon you’ll be nearing New Orleans, it needs no introduction. Pay attention to the billboards and you’ll see mant attractions I have failed to mention. You can even visit the factory where Tabasco sauce is made in Louisiana.

    Enjoy and drive safe.
